Hong Kong Literature: Why and How?In conjunction with his UBC talk, author Dung Kai-cheung also gave a Cantonese-language lecture at the Richmond Public Library, which was well attended by members of the public and media outlets. In this talk, hosted by UBC professor Leo Shin, Mr. Dung raised fundamental questions about what Hong Kong literature has been, is, or might yet be. He further raised the question of the necessity of a “Hong Kong” literature, especially in relation to recently heightened local awareness.
